Microsoft Surface RT is coming in January 2013. That is the only great thing I can tell you. The tag price will start at $900 for 64 Gb version. That is more than MacBook Air! It is much more expensive than iPad. Keep in mind that windows needs 16 gigabytes for system files and the screen is not as good as Retina Display.

Forumswindows8.com polled their members to find out that is their favorite OS. More then 50% prefer using Windows 7. 20% still like Windows XP and only 25% prefer using modern Windows 8. That is very sad. Windows 8 might become the next big mistake after Vista. 

The new UI is the operating system's biggest weakness. Users like how it looks but most users don’t like how it feels. 

Are you still using Windows XP and don’t want to see this weird Windows 8 interface? I’m the one who still uses Windows XP at work. I would prefer to update my work computer to Windows 7 and skip Windows 8. I’ve tried to use it and I don’t like it.

Sony has introduced a new tablet Sony XPERIA Tablet S 11. The tablet retains its iconic folded-book design but it is considerably thinner than its predecessor. The tablet got aluminum body and now it looks more mature and feels premium and better quality in hand. 

There are only too buttons on the exterior – power/lock key and volume switcher. I would prefer to have one more – mute. I wander why only iPhone has it. 

On the picture you can see the same touch cover with integrated keyboard as Microsoft Surface. Is it actually Surface cover? If not, Sony can expect a legal issue with Microsoft. 

Any way, I like it. I'm not sure if I buy it, but it looks very interesting.

In 2012 any company will be able to develop software for Kinect. We don’t have exact date yet but it should be somewhere in early 2012. Right now only noncommercial Kinect SDK is available for PC which is limited to developers who are not going to sell the software.

The SDK will be available for everyone excluding porn industry. It actually make sense. Microsoft doesn’t want to see any adult games created with the help of Kinect. Kinect allows create not only games. It is a very good platform for different kind of software. Check out the video from Microsoft that shows our feature with Kinect.

Windows 8 is now available to download. It is not a beta version, and the final product might be absolutely different. It is developer preview to collect some feedback. You can download Windows 8 from from Microsoft.

But I don't think Microsoft will make any big changes. The company just doesn’t have enough time. Microsoft has proved that the company is very slow. Any change takes month to approve, implement and verify.

The most important and buzzy change is a start screen. Microsoft has got some not good feedback after releasing Windows 8 developer preview.

Steve Jobs died (1955-2011). He passed away on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Microsoft has always been an open company. Anyone can download any update and install whatever you want. But with Windows Phone you cannot just download Mango update and install it if your Phone isn’t in a white list.

I have unlocked HTC Surround from AT&T and my phone didn’t see Mango update yesterday. But I forced the update. Hare are the steps you need to do:

1. Run Zune and try update your phone. Go to Settings -> Phone -> Update. If Zune doesn’t see any updates you can force yourself.

2. Click on any other link in the window. For example, choose Sync Options and go back to Update. Click Update button and disconnect your computer from Internet. Turn off WiFi or disconnect Internet cable. If Zune says your phone is already up to date, you didn't disconnect quickly enough and need to try this step again.

I tried the step 2 three times with a different delay and I got lucky. Now my Windows Phone as sweet as Mango.

Microsoft shared detailed preview of a new release of windows still codenamed Windows 8. It looks fresh and cool. Most of developers and users are excited by what Microsoft already has done.

Basically, Microsoft uses design that already works on Windows Phone 7. It is cool for mobile devices such us smartphones or tablets. I couldn’t imagine it would work in desktop. But it works. It actually works great. I can wait to test a new OS.

Developers can use HTML5/JavaScript, C++ or C# plus XAML to build new style application. I already use C# and XAML and I think it is one of the best bundle.

Windows 8 Developer Preview already available to download at dev.windows.com. Upgrade from windows 7 is not available in this release. It means we cannot save configuration of an existing computer.

Apple has announced Steve Jobs resignation. CEO and Co-Founder of one of the most successful brands steps down. Everyone new this might happen any time, but we had believed in better future.

How fine is Apple without Steve? I don't know. Steve has made a lot for Apple. The company has been growing since Steve returned to the high chair of Apple.

Apple is not going to not disrupt the company's product plans. And the company will be on the top in the next one or two year. The next challenge is how company can stand against Windows 8 without Steve Jobs. We will know next year.

This site is not about Mac OS development and not about Apple, but I hope Steve Jobs is doing well. He is a great IT professional. Best luck to Steve and Apple.

Google is buying Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. Google wants to work in handset business directly. Google would pay $40 a share in cash for Motorola Mobility. It is a 63% premium to the company's closing price last Friday. The deal might be closed by the end of this year if companies get approval.

This deal is a shock for the whole android world. Google has never worked in the mobile business directly. The company provided a platform to everyone including HTC and Samsung Electronics. I don’t understand how company wants to provide Android OS to all competitors and provide unique services to compete HTC and/or Samsung Electronics.

The new business might be a big problem to Google. Apple and Oracle have sued either Google or its partners. I don’t think this deal can make the case easier.
